CNC Power/Signal Distribution Board

A breakout Printed Circuit Board for a 3 Axis Desktop CNC
Project Overview
The board routes different voltage and signal lines to various connectors for a more simplified layout of the CNC's electronics system. The board also adds fuse protection functionality and each line is rated to handle a certain max current. Check out CNC below. DMC2 KICKSTARTER
My Contributions
One of my friends was starting his own CNC manufacturing company and he commissioned this power board since I had a large background in PCB design. I designed this board and reiterated the design based on his requirements. All of this was done in Altium.
The CNC PDB had a lot of restrictions on voltage and minimum travel current. From this, I had to learn about overcurrent protection as well relay sourcing and wiring. This project also required me to increase my knowledge of Altium. I also learned tips and tricks to keep cost down during the design process. Some on the skills I learned include:

    - Overcurrent protection circuits
    - Trace width sizing and routing
    - Part sourcing in Altium designer

The board has since been put into production for the DMC2 CNC. The company has since made $600k+ in sales. If interested, please see the video of the finished CNC at the end of this page.
